Spencerism #51: Observations rearing teenage boys

Spencerisms

Observations rearing teenage boys:

  • More cologne plumes than a Macy’s department store.
  • All lamps look like they are headed for the ICU.
  • More hair products than a salon.
  • “Bro!” is an appropriate response to any question.
  • Daily delivery of Dominos.
  • Piles of clothes are more efficient than dressers.
  • E-bikes are motorcycles for children (please pray).
  • 30 min showers?
  • The sporting goods budget rivals our mortgage.
  • Practice fighting is a form of affection.

I’m loving every minute of it, knowing these days are numbered.

Gratefully,
Spence
(July 2026)

One day back in 2022, Spencer said in a staff meeting, “I want to think of a way to make billing a little nicer for our clients. Nobody likes to open a bill, especially for architectural services.” And thus, Spencerisms were born. That’s an internal name we initially gave these short notes Spencer writes to our clients each month, if they receive a bill. The name stuck, only because we couldn’t think of anything else that fit. We hope you’ll enjoy these bits of encouragement (or simple thoughts) Spencer shares each month.
