Spencerism #1: A Tribute to Keith Herchenroether

I’m just back from a weekend celebrating the life of a good friend who passed away suddenly. I’m struck by the unique man he was and the impact a humble art teacher had on so many. He loved people recklessly and was always so authentically curious about the life of anyone he met.

I am inspired to be more like Keith Herchenroether.

I am also reminded of how quickly life can change, and things I wish I could say to my friend. Let’s remember to pay extra attention to those in our life—as we are not guaranteed a tomorrow. Living life to the fullest.

Gratefully,
Spence (May 2022)

One day back in 2022, Spencer said in a staff meeting, “I want to think of a way to make billing a little nicer for our clients. Nobody likes to open a bill, especially for architectural services.” And thus, Spencerisms were born. That’s an internal name we initially gave these short notes Spencer writes to our clients each month, if they receive a bill. The name stuck, only because we couldn’t think of anything else that fit. We hope you’ll enjoy these bits of encouragement (or simple thoughts) Spencer shares each month.
