Spencerism #2: Giftedness Comes in All Shapes and Sizes

A number of years ago I picked up my oldest son from preschool, and found to my wonder 14 kids all sleeping on mats throughout the room. Knowing how insanely difficult it was to get my 4 year old to take a nap by himself, I knew I was in the presence of greatness. Those teachers had pulled off a Miracle (or had hypnotized the entire class!). When I inquired about what type of drugs they had put the kids on, they shrugged and said they just asked them all to lie down….

It makes me really appreciate when someone is working in their giftedness. I see it on our staff at CDA all the time, folks learning and growing every day. Excited to do what they were born to do. It’s a good reminder to operate in our giftedness and to help those around us to do the same.

Gratefully,
Spence
(June 2022)

One day back in 2022, Spencer said in a staff meeting, “I want to think of a way to make billing a little nicer for our clients. Nobody likes to open a bill, especially for architectural services.” And thus, Spencerisms were born. That’s an internal name we initially gave these short notes Spencer writes to our clients each month, if they receive a bill. The name stuck, only because we couldn’t think of anything else that fit. We hope you’ll enjoy these bits of encouragement (or simple thoughts) Spencer shares each month.
