Spencerism #47: Garbage In, Garbage Out

Spencerisms

When we fill our bodies with junk food, we feel sluggish and drained. Similarly, what we feed our minds shapes our thoughts, which in turn shape our mood, attitude, and how we show up in life. “Garbage in, garbage out.”

With the abundance of entertainment and noise bombarding us each day, guarding our minds requires as much discipline as choosing what we put into our bodies. Am I choosing to dwell on what’s good, true, and life‑giving? Am I preparing my mind each day to be positive, hopeful, and joyful? I’ve noticed that when I start my morning by intentionally putting positive, uplifting ideas into my mind, it changes the tone of my entire day. What we plant in the mind becomes the fruit of our life.

Gratefully,
Spence (March 2026)

One day back in 2022, Spencer said in a staff meeting, “I want to think of a way to make billing a little nicer for our clients. Nobody likes to open a bill, especially for architectural services.” And thus, Spencerisms were born. That’s an internal name we initially gave these short notes Spencer writes to our clients each month, if they receive a bill. The name stuck, only because we couldn’t think of anything else that fit. We hope you’ll enjoy these bits of encouragement (or simple thoughts) Spencer shares each month.
